Snowflakes 4 Tier Winter Wedding Cake

Christmas is a really magical time for a wedding, and I love all things wintery! I always said I wanted a winter wedding - I wanted the fur shrugs, and the lace up boots under my dress, and the icy twig decoration. My hubby however wanted a summer wedding, and I had to compromise on something so it was this, and we ended up getting married in June and having nothing even remotely wintery!
Luckily, I still get to make winter wedding cakes, and this was for Amy and Heike who got married at the lovely Bagden Hall Hotel in Denby Dale, Huddersfield. The theme was snowflakes, and there are a lot on this four tier cake!
Everything else was really simple - no ribbon, no extra decoration, just snowflakes which all had a bit of a sparkle to them.
Amy posted on my Facebook to say how much they loved their cake, which is a really nice thing to hear! Thank you, and thanks for letting me make your wedding cake. Massive congratulations! xx

Two Tier Superheros Birthday Cake

I *loved* making this cake! It's based on a cake by Miss Catty (http://www.flickr.com/people/misscattycakes/).

Sonny loves all things Marvel and The Avengers, so we included the characters from this amongst others. The characters are printed onto edible paper and then attached to the cake using lollipop sticks, so they're like superhero lollies :)

Happy Birthday Sonny! x

Claret and Ivory Wedding Night Bed Cake :)

This has to be one of our most popular novelty wedding cakes! I think maybe because we can change the colours and as the couple are hand modelled we can change them and make them look however you like, or maybe it's because this is how most wedding nights actually end up (my own actually ended with us waiting in Manchester Airport, as we flew to Jamaica for honeymoon early the next day)! This version was a gift for the happy couple from one of their guests, which is lovely.

The headboard and footboard (is that what it's called?) are covered in hand piped detail, and features the couple's name on a sign on the headboard.

Congratulations to Sandra and Jack on their special day!

Star Wars R2D2 Birthday Cake

Here's a fab cake for a Star Wars fan's birthday. Hand modelled figure and hand cut Star Wars logo :)

I had an email from Aaron's mum to say that Aaron and his friend's loved the cake, which is always nice to hear :)

Here's a first attempt at carving a horse from cake! This was for Sophie's birthday and she loved the end result!

The whole thing is edible, including the rosette :)

I heart 1980s!

Being an 80s child myself (albeit early 80s) I am partial to all things 1980s, so when I was asked to create a cupcake tower for a friend's birthday I couldn't wait!

There were cupcakes with Rubix cubes on, Pacman, some with 40 on in neon colours and the I love 80s ones, which were my personal favourite.

Happy Birthday Annelie! xx

Two Tier Navy Blossom Wedding Cake

Here's a simple but stylish wedding cake, being two tier. The cake is trimmed with navy blue ribbon and decorated with navy blue blossoms.

We delivered this cake to the gorgeous Three Acres restaurant in Shelley - great venue for an intimate wedding celebration.

Not the best picture I'm afraid, as I took this in my kitchen before I delivered the cake and then forgot to get one at the venue!

Mei-Li loves Twilight, so her mum asked if we could make the Twilight books from fruit cake for her birthday. Here's what we did...

Hot Pink and Orange Gerbera Cupcake Tower for a Wedding

Apologies for the long absence - it's been a busy old time with Holly's first Christmas and the run up to that including various illnesses and a lot of sleepless nights!

Here's a wedding cupcake tower I created earlier in the year. Hot pink and orange were the colours, and the  bride and groom requested simple gerbera flowers on their cupcakes. There were also some mini cupcakes for smaller mouths :)

Congratulations!
